Inside the Black Box will interview David Saltzberg, UCLA Physics Professor, and technical consultant for the hit CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory". Tune in or give us a call at 404-894-2468 with a question or comment about how science can be so funny.

The entire Humor & Innovation Living Learning Community will get together to kick off the 2010-2011 academic year.

Weekly Coffee House
This is our first weekly meeting on Monday 5-6pm.  This seemed to work for most people at the retreat so we are tentatively using this time.  However our student steering committee will take more extensive data on what time works for most people. We will be listening to some comedy album selections from Steve Hofstetter and Ron Schock.

Lew Lefton will lead us in an introductory improvisation workshop. This might be filmed by the Georgia Tech Cable Network.
Thurs. Sept. 16th  2010, Georgia Tech 7:15 pm
Black Box Improv Festival Show - 8pm, Drama Tech Theatre.  This show features Students from a 4 day workshop at BBIF performing with their instructors Tim Orr and Regina Saisi of the Improv Playhouse of San Francisco, Fusebox Theatre which recently moved from Richmond, VA to Atlanta, GA, and Dad's Garage of Atlanta.
We will meet in the 5th floor lounge of NA-South and then walk over to the Drama Tech Theatre together for the 8pm program.
Fri. Sept. 17th  2010, Georgia Tech 7:15 pm
Black Box Improv Festival Show - 8pm, Drama Tech Theatre.  This show features In Harm's Way from Atlanta, Banana Breakup from Carrboro, NC, and The Naked Stage from San Francisco, CA.
We will meet in the 5th floor lounge of NA-South and then walk over to the Drama Tech Theatre together for the 8pm program.

Optional Black Box Improv Festival Shows

Some interesting shows include the BIG SHOW on Sat. at 10pm; the 10pm Thurs. show features Georgia Tech's own improv group Let's Try This, and the Sunday 5pm show features D.U.C.K., the H.S. student group directed by our own Lew Lefton who ran the recent improv workshop for us.

We chose Thurs. and Fri. shows because the Steering Committee thought these would be most convenient for the students, but there are some other cool shows you might want consider attending on your own.

We will meet at the Ferst Center box office at 6:45 to see B.J. Novak, actor and writer from the Office do stand-up comedy.

Recap of the Improv festival and a discussion of how humor can be used deal with difficult situations
Sun., Sept 26, 2010, Gordon Biersch, Atlanta A Jew, a Christian and an Atheist Walk into a Bar This is a program sponsored by the Wesley Foundation that will use humor to help reduce the tension associated with a discussion of faith. CLICK HERE to RSVP
