Below is a taste of what we are up to in the Humor & Innovation Living and Learning Group. All events listed in BOLD are official events for the Living Learning Community.

Tues. May 18, 2010 8pm	Caffeinated Comedy Open Mic at the Urban Grind Coffee House	Coffee and Comedy near Tech, email pete@drpetecomedy.com if you want to do some time at the mic (no cover charge) or show up and enjoy a coffee and some laughs
Wed. May 26th, 2010 noon-1pm	Inside the Black Box, WREK-91.1FM	Inside the Black Box will interview David Saltzberg, UCLA Physics Professor, and technical consultant for the hit CBS sitcom "The Big Bang Theory". Tune in or give us a call at 404-894-2468 with a question or comment about how science can be so funny.
Sun. Aug. 22nd, 2010 4-6:30pm, 5th Floor Lounge	Humor and Innovation Kickoff Retreat	The entire Humor & Innovation Living Learning Community will get together to kick off the 2010-2011 academic year.
Mon. Aug. 23rd, 2010 5-6pm, Fifth Floor Lounge	Weekly Coffee House	This is our first weekly meeting on Monday 5-6pm. This seemed to work for most people at the retreat so we are tentatively using this time. However our student steering committee will take more extensive data on what time works for most people. We will be listening to some comedy album selections from Steve Hofstetter and Ron Schock.
Mon. Aug. 30th, 2010 5-6pm, Fifth Floor Lounge	Weekly Coffee House	This is our first weekly meeting on Monday 5-6pm. Mon. Sept. 13th , 2010 5-6pm, Fifth Floor Lounge	Weekly Coffee House	Lew Lefton will lead us in an introductory improvisation workshop. This might be filmed by the Georgia Tech Cable Network.
Thurs. Sept. 16th 2010, Georgia Tech 7:15 pm	Black Box Improv Festival Show - 8pm, Drama Tech Theatre. This show features Students from a 4 day workshop at BBIF performing with their instructors Tim Orr and Regina Saisi of the Improv Playhouse of San Francisco, Fusebox Theatre which recently moved from Richmond, VA to Atlanta, GA, and Dad's Garage of Atlanta.	We will meet in the 5th floor lounge of NA-South and then walk over to the Drama Tech Theatre together for the 8pm program.
Fri. Sept. 17th 2010, Georgia Tech 7:15 pm	Black Box Improv Festival Show - 8pm, Drama Tech Theatre. This show features In Harm's Way from Atlanta, Banana Breakup from Carrboro, NC, and The Naked Stage from San Francisco, CA.	We will meet in the 5th floor lounge of NA-South and then walk over to the Drama Tech Theatre together for the 8pm program.
Thurs.- Sun. Sept. 16th-19th, 2010	Optional Black Box Improv Festival Shows Some interesting shows include the BIG SHOW on Sat. at 10pm; the 10pm Thurs. show features Georgia Tech's own improv group Let's Try This, and the Sunday 5pm show features D.U.C.K., the H.S. student group directed by our own Lew Lefton who ran the recent improv workshop for us.	We chose Thurs. and Fri. shows because the Steering Committee thought these would be most convenient for the students, but there are some other cool shows you might want consider attending on your own.
Sun. Sept. 19th, 2010 7pm, Ferst Center for the Performing Arts	B.J. Novak	We will meet at the Ferst Center box office at 6:45 to see B.J. Novak, actor and writer from the Office do stand-up comedy.
Mon. Sept. 20th, 2010 5-6pm, Fifth Floor Lounge	Weekly Coffee House	Recap of the Improv festival and a discussion of how humor can be used deal with difficult situations
Sun., Sept 26, 2010, Gordon Biersch, Atlanta	A Jew, a Christian and an Atheist Walk into a Bar	This is a program sponsored by the Wesley Foundation that will use humor to help reduce the tension associated with a discussion of faith. CLICK HERE to RSVP
Mon. Sept. 27th , 2010 5-6pm, Fifth Floor Lounge	Weekly Coffee House	No Coffee House - due to event the previous evening
Thurs. Sept. 30th , 2010 7pm, North Ave.l Courtyard	Think Big Picnic	T-shirts, games, food and fun galor for ALL the Think Big Living Learning Communities. Pete will be doing comedy at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago but he will miss you all.
Fri.Oct. 22nd, 2010 8pm	Paula Poundstone, Ferst Center for the Performing Arts	Paula Poundstone - I saw her a couple years ago at the Ferst Center where she made fun of some Georgia Tech faculty.
Mon.. Oct. 25th, 2010 5pm	Weekly Coffee House	Pete's bringing donuts and we will talk about gender differences in humor
Mon.. Nov. 1st, 2010 5pm	Weekly Coffee House	A follow up on Pete's workshop on humor in your professional life Pete gave at the Georgia Tech Women's Leadership Conference. Also we will start to examine sarcasm and humor to improve communication.
Fri. Nov. 5th, 2010, 8pm	Jon Dore at the Laughing Skull Lounge	We will leave at 6pm to walk over to the Vortex for dinner before the 8pm show at the Laughing Skull Lounge. Jon Dore is the Ryan Seacrest of Canada, only funny.
Mon.. Nov. 8th, 2010 5pm	Weekly Coffee House	Some examples and discussion about using humor to help improve communication
Fri. Nov. 19th, 2010, 8pm	Greg Proops at the Laughing Skull Lounge	We will leave at 6pm to walk over to the Vortex for dinner before the 8pm show at the Laughing Skull Lounge. Greg Proops is a hilarious comedian that you probably have seen on Whose Line is it Anyway.
Mon.. Nov. 22nd, 2010 5pm	Weekly Coffee House	Stand-up Comedy 101. Bring your favorite joke and take your turn at the mic.
Mon.. Nov. 30th, 2010 5pm	Weekly Coffee House	Stand-up Comedy 101. Bring your favorite joke and take your turn at the mic. - We will also talk about our February Student Comedy Competition
Tues. Dec. 7th 8:00-9:30pm	Stand-up Comedy at the Urban Grind Coffee House	We are paying for the coffee and smoothies for those that want to join us for a local comedy open mic. Next time you will get a chance to perform if you want.
